Strategic Enterprise Decision Making
In Week 6, you reflected on the process and outcomes associated with your pilot, and you considered how you would design a large-scale strategic plan, based on your reflection, to foster continuous improvement. As indicated previously, you will need to obtain stakeholder alignment and buy-in for your initiative to be successful. A substantial component of a strategic plan pertains to organizational alignment, which means that you need to align the organizational strategy to your initiative. Revisiting the scoring and prioritization templates from Week 1 would be helpful here. Also, you need to communicate your plan in a way that resonates with all of your stakeholders.
Your strategic plan should include the why, who, how, and when. You should begin with a statement about why this is important with a particular focus on how your initiative aligns with the larger organizational strategy. You should articulate the value proposition and discuss the feasibility of the initiative; the focus here should be on the outcomes of interest or the key performance indicators. Next, you should discuss the process, which should pertain to who, how, and when. A brief roadmap with a timeline and milestones should be included. Be sure to use the results that you obtained from your pilot to support your plan.
Review the weekly resources (as well as previous resources, as required) to prepare for this week’s assignments. The resources may include textbook reading assignments, journal articles, websites, links to tools or software, videos, handouts, rubrics, etc.
Assignment: Formulate a Strategic Plan Informed by Statistical Applications
For the Signature Assignment, you must design a strategic plan for organizational continuous improvement or growth based on your design of an experiment and analysis of data.
Begin by reviewing the feedback you received from your professor and incorporating that feedback into this assignment. Make sure all components of the document are present and are written using a professional tone and presentation.
Your final paper should consist of the following components:
An executive summary with a brief overall summary of results and recommendations for further action
Statement of the problem and hypotheses
A brief overview of your design
A brief overview of your data analysis results with supporting tables, charts, and narratives (e.g., focus on only the key insights, you do not need to show charts or tables pertaining to data cleaning or testing of assumptions).
A discussion of your strategic plan pertaining to an organizational change, supported by the results of your study
What needs to change and why including a discussion of how this strategy is aligned with the overall organizational strategy
How the change will be implemented (who, what, when), including how the key performance indicators (e.g., the variables that you analyzed in your experiment) will be monitored and progress will be communicated
Overall summary or conclusions
The sales department tasked you with conducting an analysis of customer spending by credit card usage. Use the CC_Sales.csv file for your analysis. This file is a 1,000-record sample dataset extracted from your company’s data warehouse and is accessed by clicking “Next” at the bottom of this page.
The dataset contains the following variables:
CC_Card: 0 indicates no credit card usage, 1 indicates customer used a credit for their purchases
Sales per visit: Average amount spent by customer in each visit for this month
The objective of this study is to first determine if the mean value of the variable Sales per visit for non-credit users is significantly different than for credit card users.
Create a presentation to explain your findings. Your presentation should include the following:
Hypotheses (Alternative and Null)
T-test results including charts, graphs, and tables
Analysis of test results
What business insights could your company gather from these findings
